California is the strictest state on employee labor laws. We’ve seen employers get sued for a law they had no idea even existed. But that won’t happen to you. Our HR professionals are experts in understanding the labor laws and applying best practices to avoid legal situations. These are some of the areas we are frequently asked about:

Employee Relations

ER is an area that is key to the small to midsize employer. You need your business to run like a well-oiled machine but when there is turmoil among the group, it affects production and service. Deloitte recently analyzed US based employers and found that companies that had engaged and satisfied employees were 125% more productive. So, making sure your team is happy with the company and their environment is crucial and is an area we are well versed in. Creating a company culture of transparency, support, and teamwork is necessary to keep your employees happy and productive. Most employee relation issues are solved with listening and validating the employees’ thoughts and opinions. But when things get more real than that, we will perform the necessary investigation and make our recommendation for Corrective Action or Coaching.

Leaves of Absence

With the myriad of leave programs in CA, it’s no wonder that this is one of the highest litigated areas for an employer. FMLA, CFRA, PDL, WC, ADA, Accommodation……what does it all mean and how do you manage it without putting your company in a risky legal position? Easy! Let Monster HR handle it. We are experts in all areas of paid and unpaid leaves. We will handle all of the administration of these programs from determining eligibility and issuing required notices, to collecting benefit payments, accommodation requests, and handling terminations if the employee fails to return on time. We are well trained in the processes that are necessary to keep you compliant.

Training

California law requires all employers of 5 or more employees to provide 1 hour of sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training to nonsupervisory employees and 2 hours of sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training to supervisors and managers once every two years. All new supervisors need to be trained within six months of joining your team. The law requires the training to include practical examples of harassment based on gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation. Sounds scary right? Don’t give it another thought. Monster provides all required harassment training to your employees through a fun and engaging presentation. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and we know how boring it can be, so we add our own flair to the training so that your employees not only learn but have a good time while completing it. We highly recommend Diversity, Ethics, and Inclusion training as well as Workplace Violence Education. Training is worthless if they don’t learn from it, so we keep it informative and fun. Training plays an important role in your legal defense.
